A Bit Of History About the Comus
The Comus Inn is the only pub in the World to be named after the Roman god of hospitality.
Comus was the son of Baccus the god of wine and Circe, who lived on an enchanted island.
Later in Greek mythology, Comus was portrayed as a god of revelry & nocturnal entertainment !
The battleship H.M.S. Comus, was built in Liverpool in 1943.
In the 2nd World War she spent time in Japan.
Her life was short-lived and she was dismantled in Newport in 1952.
So now you know about the history of our pub, come inside and have a look at what we have to offer now. We look forward to seeing you soon......
